ORIENTATION TO EDUCATION ASSISTANCE” - Learn about what the Educational Opportunity Centers, Inc. (EOC) can offer you in the way of financial assistance for education and training. Career decision making and training opportunities will be discussed. If interested, you will have the opportunity to take the interest profile test or schedule an appointment to speak with a representative. Orientation will last approximately 1/2 hour. If you choose to stay for the interest profile test, it will be an additional 1 to 1½ hours in length.  Top of page

 

 

RESUME ASSISTANCE” – Develop a resume that will get noticed by employers. Learn how to create a resume that enhances your strengths and capabilities. Learn about the 3 different styles and discover which one best fits your needs. STEPS TO STARTING YOUR OWN BUSINESS” – This workshop, which is provided by the Wilkes University Small Business Development Center, is designed as a tool for people who are willing and motivated to start a business venture. The "First Step" seminar will cover three main areas that include: 1. The licenses and registration you will need to address when starting a business in Pennsylvania. 2. A business structure overview to discuss the major points of what being a sole proprietorship, partnership, or a corporation will mean to you and your business. 3. An introduction to business financing in an effort to familiarize you with the lenders that are active in your area and give you the tools to gather the information these lenders will be expecting from you. Part of this process involves completing a business plan, a step that can be difficult without the proper guidance. There is a charge of $10.00 to offset the cost of the booklet that is provided.
